(?), n. [Turk. psh, bsh; cf. Per. bsh, bdshh; perh. a corruption of Per. pdishh. Cf. Bashaw, Padishah, Shah.] An honorary title given to officers of high rank in Turkey, as to governers of provinces, military commanders, etc. The earlier form was bashaw.
