(n"kr), n. [F., cf. Sp. ncara, ncar, It. nacchera, naccaro, LL. nacara, nacrum; of Oriental origin, cf. Ar. nakr hollowed.] (Zol.) A pearly substance which lines the interior of many shells, and is most perfect in the mother-of-pearl.
