Jam`bo*la"na(?), n. [Cf. Pg. jambolo a kind of tropical fruit.] (Bot.) A myrtaceous tree of the West Indies and tropical America (Calyptranthes Jambolana), with astringent bark, used for dyeing. It bears an edible fruit.
Jam"bul(?) }, n. [Hind. jamb, jambl, prop., the rose-apple tree or its fruit, fr. Skr. jambu, jamb.] The Java plum; also, a drug obtained from its bark and seeds, formerly used as a remedy for diabetes.
