(db"chk`), n. [For dabchick. See Dap, Dip, cf. Dipchick.] (Zol.) A small water bird (Podilymbus podiceps), allied to the grebes, remarkable for its quickness in diving; -- called also dapchick, dobchick, dipchick, didapper, dobber, devil-diver, hell-diver, and pied-billed grebe.
